活动介绍

Thursday 19th January 2017

SVE are pleased to announce that Dr Gareth Morgan from the Kubernesis Partnership LLP (Charity Consultants) will be facilitating a Charity Tax Event at the SVE office in Islay House, Livilands, Stirling on the 19h of January 2017.

Please see below the focus of the day along with the programme.

Presenter: Dr Gareth Morgan (author of The Charity Treasurer’s Handbook: An Introduction to Voluntary Sector Finance and Accounting)
Focus

If a charity provides services under contract or charges for an event or for goods, it is involved in trading.

This seminar will distinguish between (a) trading activities within a charity; (b) a separate trading company owned by a charity and (c) non-charitable social enterprises such as CICs.

We consider the latest accounting and tax issues for charity trading, especially when charities need to register for VAT and charity-specific VAT rates.

The seminar also covers special VAT issues such as partial exemption and income outside the scope of VAT — as well as the detailed rules on when corporation tax applies to charities.
