About the conference

“Sustainable social and economic benefits in built heritage conservation”

Heritage conservation in Hong Kong is a subject which generates diverse views in the community and presents a range ofchallenging issues. This conference aims to review the policy, planning and operation of preserving heritage buildings with case studies, discussions of key success factors and critical issues to be resolved by various stakeholders. Expert presenters and panellists will examine how heritage conservation contributes to economic, environmental and social sustainability of urban areas, and how adaptive reuse of architectural heritage structures of the past serves to benefit present and future generations.

The conference will also showcase overseas case studies, and provide a platform for regulators, businesses, operators, users and professionals to discuss the challenges, brainstorm potential solutions andcome up with recommendations to the government to reinforce built heritage conservation in Hong Kong.
